Some of the stories and experiences from young people who have been helped by DurhamWorks.

Bethany's Story

Bethany wanted to make new friends and boost her skills in a creative way, with a hope to do some voluntary work. Jack Drum Arts have helped her to try out a range of fun activities, find a volunteering placement and helped her on her way to getting qualifications.

Celebrating SEND support

We're celebrating the success of our work with young people who have special educational needs and disabilities.

Ailish's Story

21 year old Ailish didn’t feel that she had the experience or confidence to find a job. DurhamWorks partners Jack Drum Arts have seen her confidence grow working on theatre and film projects, and she’s learning a range of new skills on a week-long residential stay, which she’ll be able to transfer into the world of work.

Jamie's Story

Jamie came to Finishing Touches after finding that college was just not for him.

Lucy's Story

Lucy is one of many young people who have taken part in the project so far. She has developed her social skills, confidence and self-esteem with support from DurhamWorks.

Brandon's Story

Brandon approached Consett YMCA as part of the Finishing Touches project on DurhamWorks as he wanted to get an apprenticeship.
